OUR PROCESS
We call our process “R4” which stands for “recover, recycle, refine, and reintroduce”. This 4-part cycle is how we address a recurring waste issue, benefit the environment, drive sustainability in the marketplace, and create valuable products.
TREADCYCLE’S
R4 PROCESS
RECOVERY
By diverting scrap and waste tires from retailers, landfills, and the environment at large, we begin a new cycle of reuse and sustainability.
Tires are recovered from retail partners, community partners, even random dump sites, and brought to our Detroit facility for recycling.
Step 1
RECYCLING
Conventional tires integrate steel strands that improve performance and durability. Through our recycling process, we remove this steel from the tire so that we can isolate the two materials.
We’re then left with solid rubber and steel scrap, both of which can be refined for other commercial uses.
Step 2
REFINING
Once we have the solid rubber scrap, the material is refined into different types of solid rubber products, such as rubber mulch.
Rubber mulch has numerous uses in construction and landscaping. Our rubber products can even be colored to create different end use aesthetics.
Step 3
REINTRODUCTION
In our final process step, we reintroduce the recycled and refined rubber products to the market.
This process creates a new cycle of sustainability and re-use that generate value, improve the environment, and leave the world better than we found it.
